Amid the ongoing uproar in Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met with newly inducted NDA MPs for breakfast, urging them to participate actively in parliamentary debates.
According to sources, describing Parliament as the highest temple of democracy, PM Modi expressed concern over the recent disruptions and said that the uproar was depriving new MPs of the opportunity to speak in the House. He reportedly said this was unfair to them and added that parliamentary proceedings should run smoothly.
PM Modi’s Emphasis On Development
PM Modi urged MPs to read, learn, and understand the history of Parliament. He said Parliament contains a vast treasure trove of historical material; use it to prepare for House debates and work for the development of your respective states. The country will progress only when states progress, he added.
Approximately 45 MPs were present at the breakfast meeting, including seven from the Shiv Sena, 20 from the National Citizens Party of India (NCPI), and two from the NCP (Ajit Pawar faction).
Prime Minister’s Assurance To MPs
PM Modi also assured the Trinamool Congress rebels and the six Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) MPs who recently joined Eknath Shinde’s Sena that he is with them and they have nothing to worry about.
He said that the NDA is a family. “We are with all the constituent parties. Every individual will be respected and given a chance. I am not with any one constituent party of the NDA, but with every MP. I stand with every single NDA MP. You need not worry about anything,” the Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minister further urged them to use their power effectively to advance development projects in their constituencies.
He asked them to contact the Prime Minister’s Office directly for any development work in their area, meet with everyone, including poor labourers and farmers, and understand everyone’s problems. At the end of the meeting, the Prime Minister spoke to each MP individually and inquired about their well-being.
NCPI MP’s Highlight Message Of Collective Identity Given By PM
Jagdish Basunia, a leader of the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI), described his breakfast meeting with PM Modi as a “great interaction,” noting that the Prime Minister emphasised the collective identity of the NDA as a “family.” Basunia characterised the meeting as highly cordial and focused on the shared goal of national development.
“It was a great interaction with PM Modi over breakfast today, a very cordial meeting. PM told us we are all part of the NDA family. Let’s work together for public welfare, the way NDA works,” Basunia said.
Sharing details of the regional focus during the deliberations, NCPI MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay stated that the development of the North-East remained a key topic of discussion.
“We had a conversation regarding the development of the North-East region of the nation. We will work to fulfil PM Modi’s vision,” Bandyopadhyay said.
Shatabdi Roy, NCPI MP, also highlighted the collaborative spirit of the meeting. “We had a discussion on how to work together for the best interests of the nation,” she remarked.
Continuation Of Interaction With MPs
The meeting came a day after PM Modi hosted a dinner for 37 Bharatiya Janata Party MPs at his official residence, which was part of his ongoing outreach campaign with MPs during the monsoon session.
PM Modi reportedly also shared his personal experiences with the MPs and discussed several important issues. During this interaction, the Prime Minister specifically advised the MPs not to fall prey to the Delhi narrative and to maintain cordial relations with opposition members.
