The 1st Ladakh Women’s Football League concluded at Spituk Stadium, Leh, marking a significant milestone in promoting women empowerment, youth development and social inclusion through sports.
Organised by 5014 ASC Battalion under the aegis of the Fire & Fury Corps as part of Operation SADBHAVANA, the league was conducted from August 1 to 6.
The first-ever inter-district women’s football league in Ladakh brought together eight teams representing all seven districts of the Union Territory, providing young women footballers a platform to showcase their talent and compete at a higher level.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local communities, educational institutions and sports enthusiasts. A special workshop was also conducted for budding football players by celebrity footballer Aditi Chauhan, former goalkeeper of the Indian Women’s Football Team. The Women Forum of India Ladakh also created awareness about drug abuse among youth.
The initiative highlighted the Indian Army’s commitment towards empowering Ladakh’s youth through sports, leadership development and national integration. The league is expected to inspire aspiring athletes and strengthen sporting culture across the region.
