Delhi-NCR Rains: The residents of Delhi and nearby cities, including Noida and Gurugram, witnessed heavy rainfall on Thursday. While the fresh rain provided relief from heat, it also led to severe waterlogging in multiple lower regions.
The corporate employees, especially during the peak hours, faced inconvenience due to the heavy traffic congestion. The residents have been advised to follow the guidelines and plan their days accordingly.
Waterlogging Near Rajiv Chowk
The commuters got stuck near Rajiv Chowk due to heavy traffic congestion and waterlogging amid heavy rainfall, leading to chaos. Apart from this, a similar situation was witnessed at several key sites, including Safdarjung, where the commuters were left stranded. The Delhi police have deployed additional officials at various locations to clear the congestion and guide the commuters.
The reports suggest that several other regions of Delhi, including Sainik Farms, the Geeta Colony area, and Rohtak Road, have also witnessed severe waterlogging due to heavy rainfall. The national capital and nearby cities are likely to witness more rain in the coming days. The residents have been advised to stay updated and limit their outdoor activities to avoid inconveniences.
Gurugram Police Issue Advisory
Apart from this, Gurugram has also been experiencing heavy rain since this morning, causing significant waterlogging on the roads. As per the reports, the authorities had to use cranes to rescue the vehicles stranded at several locations. The city has received around 100 mm (97 in) of rain on Thursday.
Following an orange alert by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the district administration has advised corporate employees to work from home on August 6 and 7. It stated that the decision has been taken to ensure safety for the residents.
The heavy rainfall also caused waterlogging in several regions of Faridabad, including the industrial area and the national highway. The heavy rainfall has severely affected the students, corporate employees, and the daily commuters.
