Minister’s Strong Remarks on Jagan’s Visit
On Thursday, Anagani Satya Prasad, the Minister for Revenue, Registration, and Stamps in Andhra Pradesh, launched a fierce critique against YSR Congress Party leader and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy during his visit to Devarapalli.
He accused the ex-Chief Minister of attempting to engage in “political drama” rather than addressing the issues faced by the public. Speaking to the media, Satya Prasad expressed that Jagan’s visits often lead to public inconvenience. He claimed that the residents of Devarapalli would encounter similar difficulties during Jagan’s visit as they did in the past. The minister further alleged that Jagan is the “root of many problems in the state,” escalating the political tension between the ruling Telugu Desam Party-led NDA government and the opposition YSRCP.
Focus on Backward Classes Bill
Satya Prasad made these comments while informing the media about a meeting primarily focused on the proposed Backward Classes (BC) Bill. He stated that the purpose of this legislation is to fulfill a significant promise made by the NDA coalition during the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections. He emphasized the state government’s commitment to fulfilling promises made to backward classes and described the proposed bill as a crucial step towards their welfare and empowerment. Additionally, he highlighted the government’s support for tobacco farmers, asserting that the administration has consistently stood by them. He noted that the government had assisted tobacco farmers last year and would continue to take measures to protect their interests.
Political Tensions Rise
This statement comes amid ongoing political tensions between the ruling coalition and the opposition, with both sides trading accusations regarding governance. Jagan Mohan Reddy has been touring various parts of Andhra Pradesh to meet with the public and raise state-related issues. Previously, he criticized the coalition government for its indifference towards tobacco farmers, who are facing severe crises due to skyrocketing farming costs and companies manipulating market conditions to lower purchase prices.
Jagan’s Visit to East Godavari
During his visit to East Godavari district, Jagan Mohan Reddy inspected a tobacco purchasing center in Devarapalli and reviewed the ongoing purchasing process. He also engaged with tobacco farmers, discussing critical issues such as crop cultivation, fair pricing, purchasing, and the challenges they are facing.
