Jack Miller Eyes Yamaha Revival as MotoGP Returns to Silverstone
Jack Miller arrives at Silverstone eager to witness tangible progress from Yamaha following a challenging opening half of the MotoGP season.
The factory Yamaha squad has struggled to extract performance from their new V4-powered YZR-M1 machine, with results failing to meet expectations. So far in 2026, Fabio Quartararo’s best finish is a fifth place at Catalunya, while Miller’s top result remains an eighth-place finish in Hungary.
The Australian rider, now with Pramac Yamaha, expressed cautious optimism ahead of the British Grand Prix. “I’m looking forward to getting back on track after the summer break and starting the second half of the season,” Miller said. “Hopefully, we’ve been able to make a bit more progress during the three-week break, and it’ll be good to see how that translates once we’re back racing. Silverstone is a circuit I always enjoy, and it’s always special to race in front of the British fans. I’m excited to get the weekend underway and see what we can achieve.”
Silverstone presents a fresh challenge for Miller’s teammate Toprak Razgatlioglu, who has limited experience at the circuit, having last raced there twelve years ago in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup. The Turkish rider is returning to Silverstone for the first time in over a decade, now competing on a MotoGP bike with all its complexities. “I’m really happy to be back at Silverstone,” Razgatlioglu said. “It’s a circuit I really enjoy, even though the last time I raced here was twelve years ago in the Rookies Cup. It will be completely different on a MotoGP bike, especially with the long straights, so we’ll have to see what to expect.”
Razgatlioglu emphasized the importance of continuous learning and adaptation. “As always, the goal is to do our best and keep learning. Every weekend I’m gaining more experience with the bike, and I’m looking forward to getting back on track and starting the second half of the season at such a great circuit.”
Both Yamaha riders enter the Silverstone weekend hopeful that the factory team’s development efforts during the summer break will translate into improved race pace and stronger results. With the British Grand Prix set to provide a crucial test of Yamaha’s mid-season upgrades, all eyes will be on Miller and Razgatlioglu to see if they can elevate the YZR-M1’s performance on one of MotoGP’s most demanding tracks.
