The separation of actor Ravi Mohan and Aarti Ravi continues to attract attention, with fresh allegations emerging from their ongoing divorce proceedings.
Aarti’s mother, producer Sujatha Vijayakumar, has now responded to reports claiming that her daughter demanded Rs 40 lakh per month as maintenance from the actor.
Speaking at a press conference, Sujatha denied the reports and clarified that the amount was not sought for Aarti’s personal expenses.
She alleged that Ravi Mohan had left the family burdened with heavy debts and said they were struggling to meet basic expenses.
“Aarti did not ask for Rs 40 lakh as monthly maintenance for herself. We are facing several debts because of him, and the bank has even issued an attachment notice for the house. The children now do not have enough money for school fees, food or tuition,” Sujatha said.
She further explained that the court had directed Ravi Mohan to pay for his children’s education and provide monthly financial support to the family.
“The children are studying at an American school, where he enrolled them. Their annual school fee is Rs 86 lakh, and the court has directed him to pay it. He has also been ordered to provide Rs 3 lakh per month to Aarti and Rs 1 lakh each to Aarav and Ayaan. In addition, he has to bear the expenses of the children’s extracurricular activities,” she said.
“We Never Stopped Him from Meeting His Children”
Sujatha also rejected allegations that Aarti had prevented Ravi Mohan from meeting their sons. She said Aarti had approached the court last year seeking visitation arrangements because she wanted the children to maintain a relationship with their father.
“We never said that he should not meet the children. In fact, Aarti herself filed a visitation petition last year because she wanted them to have a relationship with their father. The biggest relief for us is that the court has now ordered regular meetings between the four of them,” Sujatha said.
She added that the family had been trying for nearly two years to arrange meetings and resolve the dispute.
According to Sujatha, the children were uncomfortable with the earlier visitation arrangement because the meetings were expected to take place in the presence of a healer.
“The children were hesitant because the earlier meetings were supposed to happen in the presence of a healer, not because we stopped them. No mother would want to separate her children from their father. Starting this month, I hope the family can finally begin to heal,” she said.
Ravi Mohan announced his separation from Aarti Ravi in September 2024, after 15 years of marriage. The couple tied the knot in 2009.
