Tamannaah Bhatia has said that she wants to be recognised not only as a glamorous performer but also as an actress capable of taking on substantial roles.
The actress, who has been promoting her recent projects, spoke about the tendency to categorise actresses either as performers known for dance numbers or as actors associated with serious roles. She said such distinctions were unnecessary.
Citing legendary actresses such as Sridevi, Rekha and Madhuri Dixit, Tamannaah said they excelled in both acting and dance, proving that an actress can successfully balance commercial entertainers with performance-oriented roles.
She expressed hope that present-day filmmakers would also write similarly versatile characters for contemporary actresses.
Tamannaah has appeared in several successful Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films over the past two decades. In recent years, she has also featured in popular special songs alongside her acting assignments.
Although she continues to receive offers across industries, Tamannaah indicated that she is now looking for more opportunities that allow her to showcase her acting abilities rather than being identified only with glamorous appearances or dance numbers.
