Is Samyuktha the right choice for Ram Pothineni’s RAPO23?

Ram Pothineni is currently busy with his next film, tentatively called as RAPO23, which is being shot in Hyderabad. The film stars Ram in the lead role as Veera, and Samyuktha is said to have been finalized as the female lead. The film also marks Ram’s directorial debut.

Samyuktha has been part of several high-profile films and is widely known for her impressive acting abilities. However, she appears to have lost some of the craze she once enjoyed. She was initially hailed as the “golden girl” after delivering a string of blockbusters, including Bheemla Nayak, Bimbisara, and Virupaksha.

In recent times, though, things have not gone entirely in her favor. “Akhanda 2” ended up as a box-office disappointment, and she faced criticism for her role. Before that, Devil, starring Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, also failed to perform. This year, Nari Nari Naduma Murari emerged as a hit, but her role in the film was quite limited.

At the same time, projects like “Swayambhu” and “Slumdog” have been facing long delays, affecting her momentum.

Given this scenario, some in the industry feel Ram Pothineni, who is also in need of a solid blockbuster, could have opted for a more commercially popular heroine for his film.

However, only time will tell whether his choice proves to be the right one. The film industry has often shown that seemingly unconventional casting decisions can turn into winning combinations. Perhaps Ram Pothineni is banking on exactly that.
