Actor Veera Pays Tribute to Mountaineer Nims Dai, Says Legends Live Forever

Tamil actor Veera has paid tribute to renowned mountaineer Nirmal Purja, popularly known as Nims Dai, following his tragic death during an expedition to Pakistan’s Broad Peak.

Veera shared an emotional note on Instagram Stories, remembering the legendary climber for inspiring people across the world with his courage and determination.

“Today, the world doesn’t just mourn a mountaineer—it mourns a man who taught millions that courage can take us beyond impossible,” Veera wrote.

The actor added that Nims Dai’s achievements went beyond climbing mountains, saying he gave hope to dreamers, strength to climbers, and inspired an entire generation to aim higher.

“Though his journey has ended, his spirit will forever live in every mountain, every summit, and every heart he inspired,” Veera wrote, concluding his tribute with the words, “Legends never truly leave the mountains.”

Nirmal Purja died after an avalanche struck the expedition team he was leading on Pakistan’s Broad Peak, an 8,051-metre mountain located in the Karakoram range.

Purja, a Nepal-born mountaineer, created history through his ‘Project Possible’ mission by scaling all 14 of the world’s peaks above 8,000 metres in just over six months, breaking a record that previously stood at nearly eight years.

During his Broad Peak expedition, Purja was aiming to become the first person to climb all 14 eight-thousand-metre peaks twice without supplemental oxygen.

Before the expedition, Purja had revealed that Broad Peak was not part of his original plan. He had initially planned to climb only Gasherbrum II but decided to attempt Broad Peak after realising it could bring him closer to achieving another historic milestone.
