Television actor Shubhangi Atre best known for her role in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!. has shared a disturbing incident from her teenage years. She revealed that she was stalked by a man who repeatedly followed her and vandalised public spaces by writing their names together. In a recent interview, the actor recalled how the ordeal left her family worried. She spoke about the the emotional toll such incidents can have on young women. She also opened up about the importance of speaking out against stalking and harassment.
Shubhangi Atre Shares Chilling Story Of Teenage Stalking
During the conversation with Hauterrfly, described the stalking incident as one of the scariest experiences of her life. Recalling her school days in Indore, she revealed that a man repeatedly harassed her by writing their names together on roads and buildings near her home. “That’s a very scary event of my life. I was in 10th-11th studying in Indore. The man wrote my name and his name together on roads and buildings. Whenever we opened our house door, the wall in front would have that name,” she said.
The actor further revealed that the man would often follow her on his motorcycle, leaving her and her family anxious. Shubhangi said her sister eventually confronted the man, asking him to stop the harassment and focus on building a better future instead.
She said “He would follow me on his bike and keep riding around me. One day, my sister confronted him and told him that nothing would come from behaving like this. She asked him to focus on making something of himself and achieving his goals, and only then think about approaching us. It was terrifying for us. We constantly hear about crimes against women, including rape, so naturally my family was extremely worried.”
Shubhangi Asks Women To Speak Up
Talking about this further, Shubhangi said that stalking and harassment should never be ignored. She said such incidents can leave a lasting psychological impact and even discourage talented young women from pursuing their ambitions or stepping out freely.
The actor added that she is encouraged to see many young women today becoming more aware of their surroundings and more cautious about the people they choose to trust.
On the professional front, Shubhangi began her television career with Kasautii Zindagii Kay before gaining recognition with Kasturi. Since 2016, she has been winning hearts as Angoori Bhabhi in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!. She has also appeared in popular television shows including Chidiya Ghar, Adhuri Kahani Humari, Havan and Do Hanson Ka Jodaa.
