Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited Ramayana trailer was released during Brahma Muhurat on July 30, creating massive buzz across social media.
The four-minute-plus trailer impressed viewers with its grand visuals, large-scale presentation and powerful background score composed by Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman.
However, despite the strong response, the trailer reportedly failed to deliver the expected numbers on YouTube during its first 24 hours.
The Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash-starrer recorded a cumulative 48.9 million views across official partner channels in the opening 24-hour period.
The figure was not enough to place Ramayana among the 10 most-viewed Indian trailers on YouTube within the first day.
The comparison with Prabhas’ Adipurush has attracted particular attention.
The Adipurush trailer, starring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon, reportedly registered 74 million views across all languages in its first 24 hours.
This means the Ramayana trailer recorded around 33.9 per cent fewer views than Adipurush during the same period.
Although Adipurush later faced severe criticism, its trailer had generated significantly greater initial curiosity on YouTube.
Interestingly, Ramayana also finished below the trailer of Ranbir Kapoor’s Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, which reportedly attracted 50.9 million views in its first 24 hours.
According to the reported rankings, Salaar continues to hold the top position with 113.2 million views, followed by KGF: Chapter 2 with 106.5 million and Pushpa 2 with 104.2 million.
The top 10 most-viewed Indian trailers in the first 24 hours reportedly include:
Salaar – 113.2 million
KGF: Chapter 2 – 106.5 million
Pushpa 2 – 104.2 million
Adipurush – 74 million
Salaar release trailer – 72.2 million
Animal – 71.4 million
Game Changer – 62 million
Hari Hara Veera Mallu – 59.44 million
Dunki – 58.57 million
Sky Force – 57.7 million
While the trailer may not have broken YouTube records, it has received strong appreciation for its visuals, performances and technical quality.
The real test will be whether the positive response translates into sustained interest and strong box-office performance when the film reaches theatres.
