Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka on August 1, 2026, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over Rs 17,900 crore.
According to the official release by the Prime Minister’s office, during his visit to Andhra Pradesh, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district and lay the foundation stone for several infrastructure, semiconductor and renewable energy projects.
In Karnataka, PM Modi will inaugurate the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre-Viveka Smaraka at Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama in Mysuru.
PM Modi in Andhra Pradesh
PM Modi will arrive at Bhogapuram at around 11 am, where he will undertake a walk-through of the passenger terminal building of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport. At around 11:30 am, he will inaugurate the airport, lay the foundation stone, and dedicate to the nation multiple development projects worth more than Rs 17,900 crore. He will also address the gathering.
Bhogapuram Airport
The Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport has been developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model at a cost of over Rs 5,640 crore. The greenfield airport has been designed to handle around six million passengers annually.
The airport features advanced technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Building Information Modelling (BIM), Airside 4.0 technologies, an Airport Predictive Operations Centre (APOC), biometric passenger processing, automated baggage handling and intelligent operational monitoring systems.
The airport also incorporates several sustainability measures, including energy-efficient heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, energy-efficient lighting, a 5 MW solar power plant, rainwater harvesting, smart building management systems, waste management initiatives and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
The terminal has been designed in accordance with Green Building Standards and is registered with the US Green Building Council (USGBC).
The architectural design of the terminal draws inspiration from Andhra Pradesh’s cultural heritage. Its roof profile reflects the traditional Chuttilu cottages and the landscapes of the Araku Valley, while its flowing form is inspired by the movement of a flying fish.
The airport is expected to strengthen air connectivity and support tourism, trade, investment and employment generation in the region.
Andhra Pradesh’s first semiconductor manufacturing facility
PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the ASIP Semiconductor Project at Visakhapatnam. The facility is being developed with an investment of over Rs 460 crore by ASIP Technologies Pvt Ltd in partnership with APACT, Republic of Korea.
It will be Andhra Pradesh’s first semiconductor manufacturing facility approved under the India Semiconductor Mission. The facility is expected to manufacture around 96 million semiconductor chips annually and create high-skilled employment opportunities.
The project is also expected to support the development of an ancillary ecosystem around semiconductor manufacturing in the state.
Renewable energy transmission projects
The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Transmission System for Integration of Kurnool-IV Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) – Phase-I (4.5 GW). The project is being implemented by POWERGRID through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) with an investment of about Rs 5,550 crore.
He will also inaugurate the Transmission System for Kurnool Wind Energy Zone/Solar Energy Zone in Andhra Pradesh-Part A and Part B, developed at a cost of around Rs 3,550 crore.
Another transmission scheme covering the Solar Energy Zone in Ananthapuram (2,500 MW) and Kurnool (1,000 MW), implemented by POWERGRID at a cost of over Rs 820 crore, will also be inaugurated.
These projects will help evacuate renewable power generated in the Kurnool and Ananthapuram regions and transmit it to beneficiaries across the country through the National Grid. They are expected to facilitate greater integration of renewable energy into the grid and support India’s energy transition.
Highway projects worth over Rs 1,880 crore
PM Modi will also dedicate to the nation and lay the foundation stone for National Highway projects worth over Rs 1,880 crore.
The projects include four-lane access-controlled greenfield highway sections from Recherla to Guruvaygudem and Guruvaygudem to Devarapalle on NH-365BG, as well as the four-lane Tadipatri Bypass on NH-67.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for a high-level bridge at Lingasamudram on the Penchalakona-Yerpedu section of NH-565.
The projects are expected to ease congestion in Vijayawada and other cities, improve road safety and reduce travel time and distance between Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad.
PM Modi in Karnataka
After completing his Andhra Pradesh engagements, PM Modi will travel to Mysuru, where he will inaugurate the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre-Viveka Smaraka at Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama at around 3:30 pm.
The Viveka Smaraka commemorates Swami Vivekananda’s historic visit to Mysuru in November 1892. During his stay, Vivekananda delivered discourses, interacted with scholars and devotees and received the patronage of Maharaja Sri Chamarajendra Wadiyar X.
The support he received from the Mysuru royal family helped facilitate his journey to the Parliament of Religions in Chicago in 1893.
Viveka Smaraka in Mysuru
Established at the historic Niranjana Math, the Viveka Smaraka covers a built-up area of more than 81,000 square feet. The centre comprises a main building and an annex block.
It includes a 4-D Experience Centre, exhibition hall, amphitheatre with seating capacity for around 700 people, classrooms, conference rooms, library, reading room, meditation and yoga hall and a book stall.
The centre will also have dedicated facilities for students preparing for competitive examinations.
The Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre aims to promote value-based education, leadership development and personality building among young people. It is expected to benefit more than 10,000 students from nearby educational institutions as well as urban and rural youth through lectures, workshops, short-term courses and capacity-building programmes inspired by Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy of nation-building and character development.
