The 5.5-kilometre elevated road stretch from Chilla Regulator to Mahamaya Flyover in Noida is set to be extended by around 2 kilometres, expanding connectivity towards the proposed airport route.
A team of IIT Roorkee met Noida officials during their recent visit to the city related to the project. IIT has given a deadline of submitting the final Detailed Project Report (DPR) by August 15, while the Noida authority has allotted a seven-day window for completion of the work.
After receiving the DPR and structural design from IIT, the Noida Authority will begin the tender process for construction work.
Work Circle-2 Senior Manager Kapil Dev Singh said IIT will prepare the structural design along with the DPR. The extended elevated road will go beyond Mahamaya Flyover and connect with the proposed elevated road on the Sector 94 embankment.
This route will further link with the DND Elevated Road and provide direct connectivity to Noida International Airport in Jewar.
Rs 200 Crore Project To Improve Airport Connectivity
The project is estimated to cost around Rs 200 crore and will be executed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The extension is expected to benefit commuters travelling towards the airport and improve traffic movement between Noida and Jewar.
The extended stretch will also function as a rotary, allowing vehicles arriving from the airport to move smoothly towards Noida.
For the structural design, soil testing has already been conducted to assess the bearing capacity of the ground. The IIT team surveyed the entire route before preparing the DPR.
