In a thrilling finale at the , India’s Seema Kaliraman secured a bronze medal in the Women’s Discus Throw, held late Thursday night (Indian time) at the Scotstoun Stadium.
Nidhi Rani finished in fourth place. Jamaica’s Samantha Hall claimed the gold medal, while Canada’s Julia Tunks took home the silver.
Seema Kaliraman achieved her best throw of 58.65 meters, clinching third place on her third attempt. Earlier, she had recorded a distance of 57.32 meters in her second attempt.
Samantha Hall from Jamaica won gold with a top throw of 61.66 meters. She recorded throws of 59.27 meters in her second attempt, followed by 60.95 meters in her fourth and her best of 61.66 meters in the fifth attempt.
Julia Tunks from Canada earned the with a throw of 60.67 meters. She started with 58.21 meters in her first attempt, followed by her best of 60.67 meters in the next attempt. In her fourth attempt, she threw 55.96 meters.
India’s Nidhi Rani finished fourth with a throw of 57.10 meters, achieving her best on her third attempt but missing out on a medal. All six of her attempts were valid, with distances of 53.19 meters, 55.67 meters, 57.10 meters, 55.07 meters, 53.82 meters, and 55.39 meters.
With this achievement, India has now secured its 17th medal at the 2026, currently ranking 10th in the medal tally with 3 golds, 10 silvers, and 4 bronzes.
