Commonwealth Games 2026 Day 8, Live Updates: India are aiming for their first medal of the day with Martina Devi competing in +86kg final.
Neeraj Chopra has headlined India’s show so far on Commonwealth Games Day 8. After enduring a tough season marred by injuries, the Olympic medallist will be vying for gold at the 2026 Commonwealth Games. He finished fifth in the men’s javelin throw qualifiers to enter the final. Neeraj was joined by two other Indians, Rohit Yadav and Yash Vir Singh, in the final, while Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem also made it through with a seventh-place finish.
However, it was Sri Lanka’s latest sensation, Rumesh Pathirage, who took the top spot with an 82.84m throw. Elsewhere on the track, Indian decathlete Tejaswin Shankar is currently fifth. Two Indian triple jumpers, Praveen Chithravel and Selva Prabhu Thirumaran, are also in the final. The Indian weightlifting contingent, already boasting six individual medals, will look to add further to its impressive haul later in the day.
