NEET Paper Leak Protest: A man from Bihar’s Kishanganj claimed that police booked him in connection with last week’s protest against the NEET paper leak despite him not being present in the state.
According to Mohammad Sadaqat, he has been in Russia for the last four months.
In a video message, Sadaqat requested the Bihar police to remove his name from the case as he has been staying in Russia for the past four months. The video could not be independently verified by The Daily Jagran.
What Kishanganj Police Said On The Matter
Kishanganj SP Hari Mohan Shukla neither confirmed nor denied the claim made in the video, saying those with grievances could approach police for redressal. “All those who have any grievances related to the protests could approach the police for redressal,” the SP said when specifically asked about Sadaqat”s purported video.
Sadaqat, who was booked in the case linked to the protest against the paper leak issue in Bahadurganj on July 25. questioned the registration of the case against him. He said he was not present at the protest in Bahadurganj as he had been living in Russia for the past four months.
Sadaqat further urged the police authorities to launch a fair investigation into the matter and requested to the authorities to remove his name from the FIR.
Bihar Government Announces Withdrawal Of FIRs Against Students
Earlier on Monday, the BJP-led Bihar government announced that it would withdraw all cases registered in connection with the protests over the NEET paper leak and release those arrested in connection with the incidents. A notification by the state home department said the government was withdrawing “all FIRs, complaints and show-cause notices issued in connection with incidents that took place before 6 am on July 26.”
