We finally have the other side of the story in Instagram DM controversy involving Kushal Tandon, Shivangi Joshi and Shreya Kalra! A claim on Lock Upp 2 has now spilled over to Prime Video’s reality show Alliance, where contestant Kashish Kapoor confronted Kushal about the accusations. While Shreya had earlier alleged that Kushal slid into her DMs while he was dating Shivangi, the actor has now firmly denied the claim. Instead, Kushal insisted that it was Shreya who messaged him first and even explained why he would never initiate such conversations.
Kushal Tandon did not DM Shreya Kalra first?
During the latest episode of Alliance, contestant Kashish Kapoor brought up the controversy that recently surfaced on Netflix’s Lock Upp 2, where Shreya had claimed Kushal had slid into her DMs after they worked together. When Kashish questioned him about allegedly flirting with Shreya while dating Shivangi, Kushal initially appeared confused.

“Who is Shreya? First of all,” he asked. After Kashish reminded him that Shreya had made a cameo appearance in his television show Barsaatein – Mausam Pyaar Ka, Kushal recalled the incident. We were shooting a promo for our show, and Shreya was promised it would feature me. But it turned out to be just a passing shot of hers,” he explained.
Kushal then denied ever initiating a conversation with Shreya and claimed that she was the one who contacted him first. “She texted me first, of course,” he said. When Kashish appeared unconvinced, Kushal doubled down on his statement. “I don’t DM girls. I have too much ego to DM girls myself.” The actor cheekily added that he only DMs foreigners. “Baatein to meri bohot hoti hain, aur hoti rehni chahiye,” he remarked.
Kushal Tandon Says Shreya Kalra DMed Him First
The actor further claimed that Shreya had accepted the promotional shoot because she believed she would get an opportunity to work alongside him. The actor apparently said that she should not have shot for the promo. “I told her she should not have done it because it looked very stupid. You could have done much better than just a passing shot,” he said.
What did Shreya Kalra accuse Kushal Tandon of?
The controversy began after Shreya Kalra made the allegations during an episode of Lock Upp 2. According to Shreya, Kushal reached out to her on social media after they worked together. “He DM’d me after the shoot. I was dating at that time. There was something between Kushal Tandon and then.” The actress said that she didn’t know that he was in a relationship she soon got a ‘hunch and stopped.’
Shreya further recalled that she later met Shivangi Joshi on the set, where the actress confronted her and said that Kushal told her she was the one who followed and texted him. “I wouldn’t be the first person to approach any man. I’ve never done that in my entire life,” Shreya said. She then handed over her phone to Shivangi so she could read the entire conversation and know that she had not flirted back at all.
