Bollywood Actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has responded to the criticism surrounding her controversial ‘generation gutter’ remark.
After facing backlash on social media, she shared a video on Instagram explaining the context behind her statement. Kangana said her comments were aimed at promoting discipline and respectful behaviour in public, while also accusing the media of highlighting only one part of her remarks instead of presenting her complete message.
Kangana Ranaut Explains Her Generation Gutter Remark
In a video shared on Instagram, Kangana addressed what she called her media friends and explained that she does not support the use of abusive or sexually explicit language by young people.
She said, “Hum log nahi chahte hai ki hamare ghar ke bachcho ko koi ashleel sabdo se ye sexualise kar de. Ghar ke buzurgo ke saamne sharmindagi mehsoos ho. Hum iss tarah ka behaviour accept nahi karte hain aur usko normalise nahi hone denge.”
Kangana also claimed that many media outlets ignored her appreciation for the Skyroot programme and her wishes for NEET aspirants, while focusing only on one controversial statement.
Kangana Says Discipline Is Not A Choice
Defending her views, Kangana questioned whether parents would encourage such behaviour in their own children. She said, “Excuse me? Kya aap apne beti ko aisa sikhayenge? Discipline mein rehna koi choice nahi hai! Agar aapko samaj mein rehna hai toh samvidhaan ke hisaab se chalna padega.
She further added, “Aapki aazadi waha khatam hoti hain jaha mera naak aur kaan shuru hote hain.” According to the actress, freedom should be exercised with responsibility and respect for others.
Appeal For Civic Sense
Kangana further said that people should avoid using offensive language against public figures or anyone else’s family members. Several videos from protest went viral in which some girls was seen abusing prime minister Modi.
She stated, “PM ko exam buddy kehte hain bachche. Koi unko leader, dost, parivaar, koi unko bhagwaan maanta hai. Kisi ki feelings hurt nahi kar sakte hai. Ye koi cool banna nahi hai. Ye ek basic civic sense hai aur agar apko nahi aati hai toh sikhna padega.”
She also urged people not to be influenced by what she called ‘feminazi’ ideology, adding, “Iss bhaundepan ko sirf aap apne kamre mein display kar sakte hai. Bahar jakar aapko maryada mein rehna padega.”
Earlier, Kangana had criticised Gen Z protests over the use of abusive language in videos shared online after the demonstrations at Jantar Mantar.
