Actor Naman Shaw has revisited a controversial incident from the sets of , revealing that an unexpected kiss from co-star Ram Kapoor during a media interaction in 2006 led to years of speculation about his sexuality. Recalling the incident with ETimes TV, said Ram has always been an expressive person who does not hesitate to show affection. During a press interaction celebrating the success of Kasamh Se, a journalist asked Ram what he thought of Naman as a co-star. In response, Ram reportedly pulled him close, kissed him on the cheek and joked, “Oh, I love Naman. He’s a great actor. He’s an actor with a great a”, and I get inspiration from him.”
According to Naman, what began as a light-hearted moment quickly spiralled into a media frenzy. Newspapers carried sensational headlines questioning whether the two actors were romantically involved, leaving him to deal with persistent rumours.
“The whole situation was blown out of proportion,” Naman said. “My family was also quite upset and concerned after seeing the headlines. It did bother me for quite a long time because suddenly people started questioning my sexuality and asking me, ‘Are you straight? Are you gay?’ Being so new to the industry at that time, it was definitely quite overwhelming to deal with.”

While Naman clarified that he personally was not offended by Ram’s gesture, he believes people should be more mindful of physical boundaries. Referring to the recent criticism Ram has faced on , he said, “I know Ram is a very expressive person, but I think sometimes he needs to control his emotions and be a little more mindful, because you never know how the other person might take it.”
He further added, “I was absolutely cool with it, but not everyone may be comfortable with that kind of affection or expression. Some people might genuinely get offended or feel awkward. Even on Lock Upp, I can see people getting offended by it.”
