After BCCI postpones Bangladesh tour, India vs Sri Lanka white-ball series on the cards in August – Report

New Delhi: India vs Sri Lanka white-ball series seems to be on the cards in August after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) postponed the Bangladesh tour last week. India were scheduled to travel to Bangladesh in August for a white-ball series but taking into consideration the current socio-political scenario in the country, the Indian cricket board postponed the series to 2026.

Reportedly, the India-Sri Lanka series is being organised to serve as curtain-raiser ahead of the much-anticipated Asia Cup 2025 which is scheduled to be held in September. According to a report published in Newswire, both the sides are scheduled to play three ODI games and as many T20I matches which will serve as a practice before the Asia Cup.

August window free for both IND, SL

The August window is free for both the teams with the report mentioning that the series is being planned for mid August. India are currently in England for a five-match test series which will be over by first week of August while Sri Lanka are hosting Bangladesh with a three-match T20I series remaining between both the teams.

Sri Lanka won the Test series and also thrashed the Bangladesh side in the ODI series after winning the final match on Tuesday. The island nation is scheduled to travel to Zimbabwe from August 29 before the commencement of the Asia Cup and in this case, the mid-August window seems to be fine for both the teams.

If this series takes place, it would be delightful for the fans of both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as both the batters are still active in the 50-over format and would be seen in the matches.
