Actor and former Miss India Universe Tanushree Dutta has revealed that she has been consistently turning down offers to appear on the reality TV show Bigg Boss for over a decade.
In a candid interview with Bollywood Thikana, she stated that despite receiving lucrative offers, including one worth ₹1.65 crore, she has never been interested in being part of the show.
“Do you really think I would go to a show like that? I can’t stay in a place like that; I don’t even stay with my own family. I was never interested in Bigg Boss and will never be,” she said.
The show, hosted by Salman Khan, has approached her multiple times, but Dutta claims she has always declined – even after being contacted personally by a Bigg Boss stylist, who tried to convince her with assurances like managing her diet inside the house.
“They have offered me ₹1.65 crore to be a part of the show… even if they give me a piece of the moon, I wouldn’t go,” she added.
In strong words, Dutta criticised the format of the show, calling it incompatible with her values and lifestyle.
“Men and women sleeping in the same hall, they sleep there, fight there… I can’t do that. I’m very specific about my diet depending on my energy. Do I seem like the kind of woman who will sleep on the same bed with a man for a reality show? I’m not that cheap. My privacy is valuable to me. I know I can earn more than that if they let me work in peace,” she said.
Tanushree Dutta made her Bollywood debut in 2005 with Aashiq Banaya Aapne and appeared in several films including Chocolate: Deep Dark Secrets, Bhagam Bhag, Saas Bahu Aur Sensex, and Rokkk. Her last known screen appearance was in the television series SuperCops Vs. Super Villains in 2013.
In 2018, she played a pivotal role in India’s #MeToo movement by reviving allegations of sexual harassment against actor Nana Patekar. Dutta originally filed a complaint with CINTAA in 2008, which went unaddressed at the time. She also levelled accusations against director Vivek Agnihotri, alleging he asked her to undress and dance on set – claims both men denied. Patekar was later cleared of the charges by police in 2019.
