Revealed: Jana Nayagan retains only 50% of Bhagavanth Kesari

Jana Nayagan, featuring Vijay, is set to arrive in theatres this week. The movie is the Tamil remake of the Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari. H. Vinoth directed the biggie. In an interview, the director was asked what percentage of the source material was retained.

H. Vinoth said, “Jana Nayagan is 50% Bhagavanth Kesari. The first half has 60%, while the second half has 20%. I asked Thalapathy Vijay sir why we had to go for a remake. He explained, scene by scene, why he liked the original. Vijay sir is into women empowerment. I saw the same with Ajith sir as well during the Pink remake.”

He further added, “I initially narrated a different script to Vijay sir for his last film. It’s about two masterminds clashing. But Vijay sir said that script was heavy and asked me to remake Bhagavanth Kesari. Balayya’s universe is different. I didn’t want to lose the opportunity, as it’s Thalapathy Vijay sir’s last film.”
