Karnataka Accident: A truck crushed the crowd during a Ganesh immersion procession on Friday in Mosle Hoshalli in Holenarsipura taluka in Hassan district of Karnataka. Due to this 8 people died. More than 20 people are said to be injured. This incident has mourned in the city of Hasan.
Truck uncontrolled in trying to save bike rider
The accident took place during the procession of Ganesh Visarjan. The truck going from Hassan towards Holenarsipura at a high speed suddenly lost his control in an attempt to save a bike rider. The truck then climbed on the people involved in the procession.
In this accident, 5 people died on the spot. Another seriously injured person died in the hospital. More than 20 injured have been admitted to the nearest hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. Two people died during treatment. The condition of some people is said to be critical.
After the accident, police and ambulances reached the spot and the injured were taken to the hospital. The police have registered a case and further investigation is on. Initial investigations have revealed that the accident happened due to the high speed of the truck and the negligence of its driver. On this incident, local people have demanded necessary restrictions on traffic during the procession.
Former minister’s charge- accident caused by police negligence
Former minister and current MLA HD, who reached the spot and took stock of the situation. Revanna helped to take the injured to the hospital. Later, while talking to the media, he said that this accident happened due to the negligence of the police. Security should have been provided by placing barricades from a distance on the path of Ganesh procession. Police was not present during the procession. 25 people have been injured. SP should take it seriously. The accident happened due to the failure of the police department.
Demand for 15 lakh compensation from the government to the families of the deceased
Revanna demanded that the government take it seriously and give compensation of at least 10 to 15 lakh rupees to the families of the deceased. The truck driver was driving drunk. This accident happened due to his mistake and the innocent people lost their lives. Truck driver and owner should have strict action and the families of the deceased should get justice.
