New Delhi: Kanta Laga girl Shefali Jariwala’s death has sent a wave of shock and sorrow across the entertainment industry. She passed away at the age of 42 in her Andheri home in Mumbai. Best known for her breakout in the 2002 hit music video Kaanta Laga and her appearance on Bigg Boss, Shefali was reported to have suffered a cardiac arrest.
She could not be revived despite all efforts. Her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, was spotted leaving Mumbai’s Bellevue Hospital late on Friday evening, visibly distraught.
Who is Shefali Jariwala’s husband?
Shefali Jariwala’s husband, Parag Tyagi, is a known face on Indian television. Born in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, the 49-year-old actor is widely recognised for his powerful portrayals, particularly in roles with a dark edge. He made his television debut as Vinod Karanjkar in Pavitra Rishta (2009–2014). Parag later gained significant popularity for playing the title role in Brahmarakshas (2016), a supernatural thriller inspired by Indian folklore and classic films like Paheli.
Over the years, his versatility has been displayed across various television dramas, including Jodha Akbar, Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, Kaala Teeka, and Aghori. His presence on the big screen has also been felt through Bollywood thrillers like A Wednesday! (2008) and Sarkar 3 (2017), along with a foray into Telugu cinema with Agnyaathavaasi (2018), where he shared the frame with superstar Pawan Kalyan.
Shefali Jariwala and Parag Tyagi’s
Shefali and Parag’s love story began under simple circumstances, at a dinner party hosted by a mutual friend. Though the late actress had been recovering from a painful divorce with musician Harmeet Singh (of Meet Bros fame), Parag’s gentle persistence and genuine affection gradually earned her trust. After nearly four years of courtship, they tied the knot in August 2014.
Their bond extended beyond the personal sphere and was put on public display during their appearances on Nach Baliye Seasons 5 and 7, where the couple’s chemistry was widely applauded. Throughout their marriage, Parag was known to be Shefali’s strongest emotional anchor. During difficult times, such as the death of his father during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Shefali’s health battles, including her openness about living with epilepsy, Parag was always by her side.
