It has been 8 days since the tunnel accident in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. Despite every possible effort by the government, the rescue team has not been able to succeed in getting the workers out of the tunnel. Even after 170 hours have passed, 41 lives are still trapped inside the tunnel. However, efforts to save him had started from the very first day. In between which there is definitely hope for completion. The rescue operation is going on war footing. Till now the rescue team has not been successful. Everyone is hopeful that 41 laborers should be taken out of the tunnel as soon as possible.

The Earth Agar machine brought from Indore is also about to start its work. Recently the work had stopped after 24 meters of drilling. NDRF, SDRF, ITBP and Uttarakhand Police engaged in the rescue operation have also conducted a mock drill on the spot. So that after going inside the pipe, the workers do not face any problem in taking them out.

All the 41 laborers trapped in the tunnel are fine. Officials are delivering food items to them from time to time, so that they do not face any problem. He is also being talked to through walkie-talkie. If there is any need for rescue, teams of experts from Norway and Thailand can also be called. The central government is fully prepared for this. Actually, 17 players of the Under-16 football junior team were trapped in a tunnel in Thailand. They were taken out of the tunnel by the rescue team of Thailand and Norway in 2018.

Day 1: Debris kept coming back into the tunnel

At 6 o’clock on Sunday morning, the day of Diwali, debris came into the tunnel in Silkyara, Uttarkashi. Due to this, 41 laborers working inside the tunnel got trapped. The rescue to rescue them started at 8 am on Sunday morning. The rescue team kept removing the debris the whole day. Didn’t get success that day. As much debris was being removed, the same amount was coming back into the tunnel.

Second day: Talk to the workers trapped in the tunnel

On Monday, the workers trapped in the tunnel were contacted through walkie-talkie. Due to this the officials heaved a sigh of relief. In a conversation through walkie-talkie, the workers trapped in the tunnel said that they were safe. The officials also assured them that you will be taken out soon. Food items continued to be sent to the workers through pipes.

On the second day of the incident, all the rescue teams again kept trying to remove the debris. This time too the teams again failed to remove the debris. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached the spot the next day. Uttarakhand’s Disaster Secretary Ranjit Sinha reached the spot. After meeting with the officials of SDRF, NDRF and NHIDL gathered there, instructions were given to clear the debris with the earth auger machine and build a new tunnel. After this the work is started with Earth Agar Machine.

Day 3: Earth auger machine failed to work

On the third day of the accident, the work of making a second tunnel in the debris of the tunnel was started by drilling it with an earth auger machine. But the earth auger machine also could not do its work. This created a new challenge for the rescue team. After this a new plan was prepared.

Day 4: American earth auger machine ordered

On the fourth day of the accident, the American Earth Auger machine made with modern technology was brought to Chilly Sands airstrip with the help of three Hercules aircraft of the Air Force. The installation work was started by taking this American Earth Auger machine to the spot from the airstrip. It took the whole day to take it from there to the tunnel. Then another hope arises that now this rescue will be completed soon.

Fifth day: anger among fellow workers

After five days have passed after the accident, along with the workers trapped inside, their families also start getting worried. On this day, the anger of the workers’ colleagues erupts. The workers’ friends scuffle with the police and officials at the tunnel. Allegations of negligence regarding delay in rescue operation. After that it is barely explained to them. An assurance is given to evacuate the fellow laborers soon.

On the same day, Union Minister of State VK Singh and Director General of Police, Uttarakhand Ashok Kumar reach the spot. Let’s take stock of the rescue work. Ashok Kumar said that it may take two days to complete this operation.

Day 6: American earth auger machine fails

Even after six days of the incident, there remains a hope that the rescue will be completed with the American Earth Agar Machine, but suddenly the machine starts vibrating. After this, the drilling work stops on Friday evening. After that the tension of the teams present there increases. After this a new plan is made. When the American Earth Agar machine stops working, another machine is airlifted from Indore. Which reaches Kohwai Patti on Friday.

Seventh day: Argument with company officials

The time of tunnel accident was continuously increasing. Once again the fellow laborers of Navayuga Company which was doing the work of building the tunnel. Surrounded his MD. All the fellow workers created a lot of ruckus. The company officials talked about expelling his fellow workers soon.

PMO made master plan

It has been 7 days since the Uttarkashi tunnel accident but still 41 laborers are fighting between life and death. Then another hope arises. Senior PMO official Bhaskar Khulbe said that all the experts are of the same opinion that instead of doing rescue through one route, rescue work should be started from other routes also. This was agreed upon by all the experts and the different teams working there.

He told that rescue is going on from Silkyara side since the first day. Now rescue is starting from Barkot side. Besides, rescue will also be done in vertical manner. Along with that, perpendicular method is also being added from two sides. Work on some of these has started. Of these, one plan was already executed and the other has also been executed.

On Sunday, the eighth day of the accident, 41 lives are still fighting between death and life. When will they be taken out? It is becoming difficult for any officer to say this.
