Voting took place in Maharashtra on Wednesday for the assembly elections. Voting took place on 288 assembly seats in the state. Enthusiasm was seen among the people regarding voting. According to the Election Commission, 65.11 percent voting took place in Maharashtra, which is the highest in the last 30 years. Earlier in the 1995 assembly elections, 71.69 percent voting took place in Maharashtra.
In the Lok Sabha elections held this year, 61.39 percent voting took place in Maharashtra. Whereas in the 2019 assembly elections, there was 61.4 percent voting. The increase in voting percentage in Maharashtra is largely being credited to the campaigns conducted by the ruling Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). In the Lok Sabha elections, Mahayuti got a total of 42.71 percent votes, while Mahavikas Aghadi got 43.91 percent votes.
A jump of at least 3.5 percent in the voting percentage can be important in deciding who will become the king this time in Maharashtra.
In 2019, there were 8.85 crore voters in Maharashtra, which will increase to 9.69 crore in 2024. Of these, 5 crore are male and 4.69 are female voters. According to the Election Commission, there are 4136 candidates in the fray. Of these, 3771 are male and 363 are female voters.
What do BJP-Congress have to say?
It is being said that the ruling alliance Mahayuti may benefit from more voting. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that whenever the voting percentage has increased, BJP has benefited from it. It is true that the voting percentage in this time’s assembly elections has increased compared to the previous elections. Both BJP and Mahayuti will benefit from this.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole said that MVA is winning the elections. There is enthusiasm among the people. Self-respecting citizens of Maharashtra will elect a government that will give priority to the welfare of the state. He said that the Congress party will emerge as the largest party in the state. Formation of Maha Vikas Aghadi government in the state is certain.
